This warm-up supports the development of goalscoring opportunities from wide areas, working on effective decision-making, timing of runs, verbal and non-verbal communication.
Set up a pitch relative to the age and ability of your players. Divide players into three equal teams.
Blue players keep possession away from the White team using the five Reds for support. If the Whites dispossess the Blues, then possession is swapped.
Focus is using a quick combination in the middle to move the ball to the outside. Each team spends six minutes as the neutral team. One minute rest between (20 minutes total).
Coaches should focus on quality of pass, including selection, weight and accuracy, as well as movement to receive, receiving on back foot to play forward and supporting angles/distances for the player on the ball.
1. Divide players into three equal teams. One team (reds) start as neutrals
2. The neutral team support the team in possession (blues), aiming to switch the play
3. If the out-of-possession team (whites) win the ball, they then look to keep possession with the neutrals supporting
