This three-part session introduces receiving, passing, turning and communication.
This progression allows the players to utilise their new skillset in a game-like scenario.
Create a 7v7 area, broken into three separate areas. Each team will play a 2-3-2, with an equal number of players in each area.
Players must remain in their allotted area for the first five minutes, playing through the areas and communicating to receive the ball. Praise all good communication. After five minutes, the players may advance to a different area if they successfully execute a turn when receiving the ball, allowing for an overload in the next area. Players must return to their area once possession has been lost. Giving the players an incentive of an overload in a more attacking position will encourage players to attempt the skills learned in the previous activities.
