A session which encourages teams to make the most of having an extra player and create chances. Use this session as a standalone activity, or combine it with two progressions to create a full session
More emphasis is now placed on speed of play. Having been encouraged to play forward in the previous practice, the players now need to do this quicker.
Use the same area as before. Players are now split into two teams and a set number of balls are placed in the central channel. One team acts as defenders, with two players locked in each half. The other team works as a group of four attackers. The practice lasts for a set period and then the teams swap roles.
The four attackers collect a ball from the channel and attempt to score a goal at one end of the area. Once they do this, they collect another ball and attack the opposite end. This continues until all of the balls have been used or the time limit is reached. If the defenders win the ball at any time, they earn a point if they are able to return it to the central channel.
As the practice develops, the attacking player collecting the ball will do so with a greater distance between themselves and their team-mates. Therefore, there will be a greater emphasis on team-mates making supporting runs ahead of the ball.
