This last practice now restricts the overload to certain periods of the game and they only occur for a short period of time. Therefore, players need to recognise when they have this advantage and try to exploit it.
The same area is used again but the central channel is removed. A pile of cones is placed between the goals at each end of the pitch. The players remain in two teams.
Play as normal with the two teams trying to score in the opposition’s goals. When a team does score a goal, whichever player scored must go to the pile of cones between their opponents’ goals, take one and place it next to the pile. To alter the impact this has on the game, you can change where the cones are positioned.
Immediately after a goal is scored, the opposition will have one less player. The new attacking team needs to exploit this overload while the player is off the pitch and then as they make a recovery run. Teams must be direct and positive in their play, and need to attempt to score as quickly as possible.
