Your team has lost the ball – these practices will help sharpen their reactions to win it back.
This conditioned game provides an environment where players will need to react to losing the ball in situations seen in a game. They will need to react as individuals and as a team.
Set up an area suitable for the group of players you are working with, in terms of age and numbers. A halfway line is needed.
The game always restarts with a goalkeeper. The team not starting with the ball are locked into their half of the area, while the team in possession are allowed to go anywhere. The team starting with the ball must complete a set number of passes in their opponents’ half before they can score. Once they enter this half, they can’t pass back into their own half. If the defending team wins possession, they can attempt to score immediately and all of their players are unlocked. Only one player from the team who have just lost the ball can recover back into their own half.
