Often using basic soccer drills can be a very effective way of boosting your team’s football skills and success. Try this 1v1 soccer warm-up drill where the players have to stay either side of a line and beat each other to a cone to work up match-day skills.
Get to one of the cones first drill
This is a good way to warm-up your young players and get them to show off some of their basic soccer skills. In this game the player with the ball has a choice of cones to the left or right and he has to get the ball to one of the cones before the defender opposite him.
Sell a dummy to the defender drill
To do this, your player has to sell a dummy, go towards one cone, then fool the defender with a clever turn or move to either send him on his way or turn and leave the defender behind.
Work on 1v1 skills
This happens all over the pitch in football matches. Your players are constantly facing 1v1 situations where they have to beat a player in order to advance on goal. If you can get them practising the skills in training, they will use them in matches. THE DIAGRAM BELOW SHOWS GREAT, NON-CONTACT SOCCER DRILLS USING THE TURNS AND MOVES IN A 1V1 SITUATION.
