There are various soccer drills you can use to get your goalkeeper ready for a match. What you don’t want to do is to get him stretching, diving or being whacked by a hard shot before the game kicks off.
Soccer drill set up
One soccer warm-up drill you can use to sharpen your goalkeeper’s skills is to set up a couple of different colored cones on the two corners of the six yard area. Shout out a color for him to run to, and he must touch the cone, then run back to his goalline. Every two calls, you chip a shot just as he reaches the cone and he has to scramble back to clear it off the line. You can do this from the edge of your penalty area - a good soccer coaching tip is to make sure it is just a chip or gentle shot so your goalie has a decent chance to scramble back quickly to get it.
