Three-part session where players look to create gaps and exploit it to retain possession. By STEPH FAIRBAIRN
Encourages players to think ahead to support teammates and retain possession. It also encourages playing the pass at the right moment.
Set up a regular pitch with goals. Two teams oppose each other.
Most normal rules apply. One player on each team is allowed only one touch.
Teams win a point either by scoring a goal or by successfully completing a pass to and from the one-touch player. The one-touch player is rotated.
Progression: One-touch player can win points for position-specific tasks. For example, a one-touch defender could win two points for playing it to a wide player; a one-touch midfielder could do so for playing a pass to a striker that splits the defence, while a one-touch striker could win two points for scoring a goal.
