An activity to encourage your players to collect the ball at their feet, accelerate with it and shoot from distance.
With the tight time limit from the moment a player gets the ball, it encourages long-range shooting and sharpens a player’s goalscoring ability.
Set up an area of 15x10 yards, with a goal at each end. You will need bibs, cones and plenty of balls. We have used 12 players in this session.
The game starts with an attacker, who dribbles with the ball facing an opposition defender. A side player comes in for the attacking team to create a 2v1. Once the first team shoots, the opposition goalkeeper rolls a ball out to their team and they attack the other goal, with 10 seconds to shoot. If the defender wins the ball, they counter-attack quickly, again with 10 seconds to score. The first attacker becomes a side player after the attack, while the side player stays on until the attack is over, when they join the back of the line.
