Teaches players to shoot, or combine to shoot, quickly from varied distances under pressure.
Mark out an area that is 50x30 yards, split into three zones - outer zones 10 yards each, middle zone 30 yards. Place a goal at each end. We have used 16 players but this can be adjusted.
Split players into two teams. Here, an 8v8 plays in the middle zone, with a goalkeeper in each goal.
Play starts from the keeper. The team in possession tries to create shooting opportunities but can only shoot directly from the middle zone, or from the end zone if a ball has been played through for the attacker to run onto.
The only other time players can go into the end zones is to collect a pass from their keeper unopposed, or if they are following the ball in and defending against the attacker.
If the ball goes out in one of the end zones, the keeper starts with it. If the ball goes out in the middle zone, the team that last touched it concedes a kick-in.
Players should be constantly looking for space to receive the ball and shoot. They should also be looking for balls to break the lines when they can.
