A chaotic session to develop dribbling skills
Creates a chaotic, ever changing and unpredictable situation in which players can develop their dribbling skills.
Set up an area relevant to the size of your group, with a number of small, triangular areas marked out. There are teams of five, but players compete 1v1 in the area. Each pair has a ball.
Pairs work simultaneously in the area. One from each pair starts with a ball. They must dribble it through one of the triangular areas to gain a point. They can’t go back through the same goal, so must find another. The player marking them looks to win the ball back. When they do so, they try to score goals in the similar way. The pairs keep their own score. As it is a physically taxing game, rounds should be between 45 and 60 seconds.
Progression: Some balls can be taken away, so the game is played with two or three balls simultaneously, and players on the same team can support each other.
- Dribble with your head up to scan the area for other players and goals to attack.
- Aim for a lot of touches of the ball so you can change direction or make quick movements as needed.
