This session is designed to give your players the understanding of simple team work and combination play.
Team work can be shown in many ways such as using quick one-two’s, overlaps, movements off the ball to give your friend a passing option or 1v1 with the defender, etc.
This small game requires players to make quick decisions in order to score a goal. The quick one-twos, overlaps and the awareness to make a run that will free yourself up for a pass or leave your team mate 1v1 with the defender are key lessons for all players to learn.

Divide players into two teams of two. The grey team starts by passing the ball across to the white team. Immediately a 2v2 game commences.
The two white players try to beat their opponents and score in either of the two goals.
If the grey team wins possession back then they can also score in either of the white team’s goals.
The practice is now progressed by introducing two neutral players that play on the sides of the pitch. The neutral players are limited to two touches.
The players inside the game can use the two neutrals for one-twos or to pass and make a run away and into space for their team mate to receive the ball.
In a further development the two neutral players are now moved. One neutral player starts at the bottom of the pitch and the 2nd neutral player starts at the top of the pitch.
The team in possession can use both neutrals in order to score a goal. This may lead to drawing opponents away from their goal and then playing into the top neutral before making a forward run to score as shown in the third picture.
Play a normal game but encourage the players to be quick in their decisions in and around the opponent’s goal.
