Soccer Coach Weekly Issue 168

Welcome back to Soccer Coach Weekly!

This week, consultant coach Carl Wild is back with another formation.

This time, he is looking at 3-1-2-1-1, the most narrow of the nine-a-side formations.

As always, Carl looks at the formation from both an in-possession and out-of-possession perspective, going through it in detail, position by position.

There are lots of opportunities for player development in this one, including around combinations, creating width and positional awareness.

Elsewhere, we’ve got two fun practices in this issue, which can be used as warm-ups or as the core part of your session.

The first is a fun transition game, while the second encourages players to shoot as early as possible.
Young players, in particular, will love the pace of both.
