We’re almost at the end of January now - I hope your first month of 2024 has been a good one!
I spent part of the month at the United Soccer Coaches Convention, an annual event which brings coaches from across the globe together.
This year, it was held in Anaheim, California. I was representing our sister title, Elite Soccer, and had a great time chatting to subscribers and learning from some of the best in the game.
As with all of these events I attend, I was reminded of how great our sport is and how many brilliant people work in it.
On to this week’s issue, and we’ve got two articles and two three-part sessions for you.
Lee Garlick provides some thoughts on what winning really means and how, as coaches, we should be encouraging players to look for the little victories in their performances.
Hannah Duncan - editor of another of our titles, Women’s Soccer Coaching - shares some ideas on how to get players communicating non-verbally.
The first of the sessions, from Luke Williams, aims to build positive dribbling habits, while the second, from Jack Smith, looks at the decision-making that goes into switching play.
