Here it is, the final issue of 2023!

We’ve covered a lot in SCW this year, from what coaching actually is and how to take your first steps into it, to engaging the younger generation and looking after your own mental health.

Our articles have explored being an inclusive coach and club, managing parents, being a mentor and finding one of your own, leading a team through the age groups and tailoring your language.

From principles of play – both attacking and defending – to essential soccer skills, position-specific guidance and formations, we have touched on just about everything.

A massive thank you to all of our subscribers for your support this year and for making it possible for us to keep producing and sharing content about the thing we all love – coaching soccer!

In this final, 20-page issue of 2023, we’ve tried to give you a bit of everything.

We’ve got some sessions – a standalone practice from regular contributor Moritz Kossmann that was a big hit earlier in the year, and two three-part sessions, one from Rosie Filby focusing on attack, and one from Samadhi Fisher concentrating on defence.

Carl Wild, our consultant coach, is back with another formation overview, while John Allpress, another SCW trusted voice, answers some of your questions.

Finally, we bring you some prompts that might be useful if you are intending to spend some time reflecting during the Christmas and New Year break. I know I am!
