Soccer Coach Weekly Issue 122

I hope everyone is doing well and, if your season has just started, that you are getting back into the swing of it.

I know, from a personal perspective, that I am really enjoying myself being back out on the grass on a weekly basis.

As ever, we have got a variety of useful coaching articles and practices in this week’s issue.

Stoke City U9s/U10s girls' coach Tom Wheeler provides some thoughts on how we can work to develop confident and positive players.

Linked to this, Rob Porter - who has roles within Oxford United's community arm and girls teams - discusses how we can increase player confidence and promote better understanding of player strengths by providing action-specific praise.

Rob Atkin, a Uefa A licence coach with more than 30 years' experience in player development, provides a session to help younger players stay on the ball, while Tony Roberts offers a more advanced session on passing to create.

Finally, Moritz Kossmann is back with the final part in his skills series – this time he looks at covering and recovering, and shares a practice to go alongside his advice.

As always, I hope it’s useful.
