We are now eight days into the Women’s World Cup.
It is a milestone event for the women's football community. Not only is it the first Women's World Cup to have more than one host nation - Australia and New Zealand - and the first World Cup, men's or women's, to be held across multiple confederations (AFC and OFC), it is also the first Women's World Cup to feature 32 teams, expanded from the previous 24.
It is therefore a great opportunity for me to encourage you to check out our sister title – Women’s Soccer Coaching, where there is some brilliant World Cup content.
There are great insights from some of the coaches at the World Cup, including a podcast interview with the Denmark head coach Lars Søndergaard and an exclusive audio diary direct from the tournament with Republic of Korea assistant coach Matt Ross.
Plus there is also advice on how you can take learnings from the tournament into your own practice.
Check it out and if you like what you see, subscribe to our Women's Soccer Coaching magazine - which, like this one, can be delivered to your inbox on the second Wednesday of every month.
Returning to this issue of Soccer Coach Weekly, we’ve got an interview with someone who is heavily involved in driving the women’s game forward.
Alongside many other ventures, US Soccer senior coach educator Jené Baclawski leads the SheChampions Program, which is focused on promoting gender equality in soccer.
She speaks to Samantha Snow on pages 8-10.
Elsewhere in the issue, consultant coach Carl Wild continues his ‘What is…?’ series, this time looking at finishing.
As usual, he provides a couple of great practices for you to put his advice into practice on the pitch when you next train.
Soccer Coach Weekly offers proven and easy to use soccer drills, coaching sessions, practice plans, small-sided games, warm-ups, training tips and advice.
We've been at the cutting edge of soccer coaching since we launched in 2007, creating resources for the grassroots youth coach, following best practice from around the world and insights from the professional game.
